The last week I have been on a AAFES (Army and Air Force Exchange Service) tour of American Military
Bases in Japan and South Korea. It has been a good trip so far. I
was in Okinawa until today and got
to meet and greet with a lot of our troops there. I was on
Kadina Air Force Base and CampFoster.
I signed a ton of autographs and took a lot of pics with Marines, Army,
Navy, and Air Force men and women. They were all very appreciative I
was there and I expressed how much all of us back home appreciate what they are
doing for us! Loved getting to speak at a couple of the Dept of Defense
schools too. I actually met a teacher at a middle school who was
delivered by my dad back in Indy 30 years ago!! Very funny and showed me
yet again what a small world this is.
Whenever I leave the U.S.
I always appreciate the small things so much more. Obviously there is the
language barrier of not knowing what is written or said once you leave the
base, but having to get used to Japanese Yen and driving on the other side of
the road make me realize I am definitely not in Kansas anymore!!
I just arrived into Misawa Japan
today and will be doing more troop visits and school assemblies the next few
days here. The weather is much cooler here (about 65 degrees as a high
and rainy) as opposed to Okinawa which was low
80's and sunny.
